Default Help identifying engine and tranny

Hi guys! Newbie here, first post.

I just purchased a 66 c10 with what I believe is a 350.

I have only found 010 on the block with no other numbers (pic attached). Does anyone know what engine this is?

I've also attached a picture of the transmission pan. Any ideas which automatic tranny I have?

Thanks a bunch!

Transmission is a th400. Have you looked at the lip of the engine block where it bolts to the trans bell housing for a serial number?

Thank you for that!
That's on the driver side correct? I have been unable to locate or see any numbers so far...

Th400 was used for nearly 30yrs. I couldn't tell you how to pinpoint the year. I'd say that's a somewhat early one.

I'd go to a sight like rockauto and look up the seal throughout the years on vehicles with a th400 ,(One ton 2wd's will work ) and see if the part number changes. Could be the same seal for 30 yrs.

The block is a 3970010

Trans tag says:
354
CA 69 53727

Also, what should be hooked up to this port and this plug (see pictures)?

Pretty sure the plug is for the kick down switch. You can run without one, but performance suffers or you have to downshift manually.

The port is the vent tube, it's supposed to be open like that.

In a factory setup there would be a switch on the carb or possibly on the throttle linkage under the dash. Since your truck doesn't likely have the original motor/trans you may not have one.
