Hi, I have a 1970 GMC 1500. The story on this truck is that it originally had a 250 with a 3 speed tranny and the engine blew up, then it was fixed or replaced and it blew up again. So I bought the truck with out an engine or transmission. I ended up finding a 283 with a powerglide tranny. I have attached pictures of the mounts on the truck frame and the mounts that came with the engine. What I want to know is what I need to mount the engine and transmission with this truck. I'd also like to know a little bit about the powerglide, I've never used one so I'd like to know their limitations. This is a truck after all, it needs to do truck things too once in a while but will be mostly used for driving.
Your'e ok. The motor mount supports are generic for either a 6 or 8 cylinder. Was he original truck have a powerglide, or manual? that might be your concern for transmission memeber

I read where it had a three speed, either keep it a three speed, or you are going to have to deal with the automatic.
Thanks for the reply, I should also mention that i have stuff for the powerglide (column, radiator, etc) so it isn't a problem having it in the truck. I've been doing some research and that bellhousing mount needs to go and the mount for the power glide is at the very back of the transmission. I can only find mounts for th400s and 350s, are they the same for power glides?

You're dealing with some mods on the crossmember, I don't think the powerglide is as long as a TH. You can research that.
This one says it will work for a powerglide. I have had several cars with a powerglide. It is a 2 speed transmission and is good for every day driving. i never had any problems with them.
