swapping 1986 305 to 1982 350

Default swapping 1986 305 to 1982 350

I am changing out the 305 in my 86 with a 350 from an 82 and I am wondoring what might be some problems I'll face? <!-- / message -->

won't have any problems with it. 86's motor should be carbed so it's just take out, bolt 350 in

I was looking at the engines and one thing I noticed was the distributers were different...the one on the 82 350 had only a two wire connection while the 86 305 had a 4 wire connect. what might be the best way to deal with this

you can just swap the distributors so the 350 that is going in uses the 4 wire distributors so you can keep the factory wiring. 305 and 350 parts are all the same except for the heads and bore in the cylinder so if you need to swap electrical parts from the 305 to the 350 you will have no problem

So I could really just change out the caps and rotor, or would it be better to switch the whole distributer

Change out the complete distributors.
Be sure to turn the engine over until the rotor on the 350 is pointing towards the number one cylinder and the timing mark is set to TDC then when You put the 305 distributor into the hole You will have the rotor pointing to that exact place and it will be right.

That Distributor will fit the big blocks too.

Just for a future refrence if You would want to "put a RAT where a mouse presides".juz sayin. LOL
