Default 2006 Trouble Codes p0002, 3, 8, & 0300

Have a Cobalt 2006 with these codes.

About a year ago, car, after warmed up, started "stuttering" at stopsigns with no power and, though the dash readout didn't go above 200 degrees, it smelled hot.

Local mechanic replaced the throttle body (With imbedded idle solonoid) and the problem went away.

Yeserday it came back!!!!!

Friend used Scan II tool and found, cold, B2AAA, B2A00, B0800 which he reset and engne light went out. Car drove fine for about 10 miles, (avg 24 mpg)then, light started flashing, no power, low mpg, shaking near idle, no codes, but "Pending codes" were P0002, P0003, P0008, & P0300, also "open loop". Shut down and restarted couple times with no change.

I suspect a loose wire and that the car is entering a "limp home" mode.

Where do I start?

Larry

The email confirmation is a tool the forum uses to confirm you have a valid email address. ( helps keep spam bots out of the forum) It appears that you have found the link that you received in an email and just clicked on it... That's what the email confirmation is about..

Default Thanks

It just took a long time to arrive in my e-mail.

Now I hope to see some suggestions for my problem.

Question Cobalt Trouble codes

Update:

Removed and checked air cleaner and rubber/plastic induction parts.
Checked fluids, all were ok (brake a bit low and topped off).

Started this morning, ran about a block, then loss of power and rough idle as before. (Yesterday it went 10 miles without problems).

No engine codes were set though.

HELP!!!!!!

Potential causes of a P0008 code may include: Stretched timing chain Crankshaft reluctor wheel has moved and is no longer referenced to top dead center (TDC) Timing chain tensioner problem

Default Cobalt 2006 Limp Home

Tried again this afternoon. Engine light was on at start, was several body codes?????? B0800, B2A00, B2AAA. Cleared those and found a few "pending codes" but no flashing "check engine light" and the loop was closed.

Drove about a mile with no problem and good power, and then the loss of power occured but intermittent, loop would open and the car would "limp" a while, no power, low MPG, shakes at idle, etc but no "check engine light", Codes P0001, P0302, P0002, P0004, P0005.

When the loop closed, the car ran fine but, why is it going open loop??? No set codes at all, just the pending codes.

I'm still puzzled, any ideas????? I sprayed water all around the intake (looking for leaks) but it made no difference so likely no leaks.

I'm looking for a can of contact cleaner next.

It goes into closed once certain criteria are made like the 02 sensors reaching operating temp... its my understanding that it can go back to open loop under certain circumstances like throttle position and temperature...

I would suggest you eliminate the basics... Check fuel pressure. Pull the plugs and inspect and verify gap.. I know some things may not seem applicable but it will give you some things to rule out....
