Unhappy Help Identify this Part!

Hoping to get some help to identify this part before I go to the dealership.

Today I almost lost control of my Cobalt, nearly sideswiped a median and hopped a curb. In doing so something under the car got cracked and dented and is leaking fluid. The oil levels seam ok so not sure if it is the oil pan or something else ..

See picture below. Just want to know what that is (under the engine near the front).

Thanks for your help - Sherry!

Yep, that's your oil pan. It's probably going to cost you half a lung for the dealership to replace it. You can get a good used pan off ebay for about 50 bucks. The dealership isn't going to be nearly so kind for a new one though. I think it may be a better bet to find an independent shop that can tig weld it as it sits.

Thanks for the help everyone. I definitely sounded like I knew what I was talking about when I asked around for tig welding!!

I was also able to confidently ignore some shops that were telling me (from this photo) that the transmission pan would have to be changed as well.

I ended up getting a new oil pan installed for $650 all-in at a smaller shop. The dealer quoted me $800 for the same thing.

Thanks again for all your help!
