I just bought a new cobalt sport. The auto headlights function on their own due to the amount of sunlight. When the headlights come on, should the instrument panels be dimming? They become more dim than when the day lamps are on. Very annoying.

 

When the daytime running lights come on, the dash lights should not dim. But when it gets dark out, and the headlights turn on, the dash lights do dim. you can turn the auto lights off by turning the headlight switch down once. That will only turn them off for that key cycle though. The system reset after each time the car is turned on
