Default 2010 Colorado Attempts to Start on Its Own

Our truck tried to start itself tonight while we were doing yard work. Keys were not in ignition. We have disconnected the battery and reconnected and it happened again. Has anyone else experienced this and what was the cause (if known)?

Welcome to the forum...
Do you have the remote start function? if so I would make sure the button on the remote is not being depressed or that the remote is not shorting out internally and causing the remote start...
If however you do not have the remote start, it may be the BCM or ignition switch, is you vehicle one of the ones on the ignition recall list?

No remote starter. I don't know where to find recall info, but I wasn't notified of any recall.

Took truck in to local repair shop for electrical diagnosis for mere $30. They couldn't find anything. Have scheduled for Chevy dealer diagnosis on Tues for $106 minimum.
