2012 Colorado Lights,door ajar,alarm & odo.
Bought this Certified used truck in September of 2012 from (Lou Fusz Chevrolet ST. Peters MO). All was fine until December of 2013, went to visit my parents and on the way stopped at a rest area, came out and my dome and cargo light were on, door ajar warning and could not switch from odometer to trip odometer. Once at my parents called the dealership (Lou Fusz Chevrolet ST. Peters MO.) and brought it in. They said there was an internal TSB and they had to shim or replace a switch. Got the truck back and still at my parents a week or so later my truck sitting in the driveway, i hear an alarm going off, so i go outside and its my truck. The alarm is going off, lights are flashing, so i turn off the alarm and notice my dome and cargo lights are on. I start it up and now the door ajar warning is on and to turn the dome and cargo lights off i have to use the manual override button. Call up the dealership (Lou Fusz Chevrolet ST. Peters MO.) and they tell me to bring it in the next day. About 3-4 days later they call and say they cannot find anything wrong, they cannot duplicate the problem. On my copy of that service order it states that this dealership calls GM Technical Assistance for advise and GM Technical Assistance tells the dealership to make no repairs. So now i am back in NY State and was pretty sure it wasn't fixed and sure enough tonight i look out my window and see my dome and cargo lights are on. So i jump in and drive down to my local Chevy dealer (Reymore Chevrolet Central Square NY) and catch the service writer as he is just closing up. I just want him to see that there is a problem still with this truck. He sees the issues with the lights, door ajar warning and odometer and proceeds to tell me that i have an electrical issue and they don't have the master tech at this time to service this problem. So he tells me i should go to a different Chevrolet dealership (East Syracuse Chevrolet East Syracuse NY) because they were bigger and more equipped to handle my problem.
So now i get to bring this 2012 Certified used truck in for a third time for the same issue and now third dealership. Too bad there isn't a lemon law for newer used vehicles because this would be going back. I'm am currently trying to sell this truck (if anyone is interested) i do have some extras on it, i don't think i see me buying a chevrolet again.
Hopefully this dealership can some how fix this issue, if not looks like I'm stuck this time but they won't get me again.

Well its 2-20-14 and brought it down to the Chevrolet dealership (East Syracuse Chevrolet East Syracuse NY) this morning. I told the service writer why i was there and what i had gone through so far. after making the appointment i walked out and when i started the truck up sure enough the door ajar warning came on the lights would not go out and could not switch the odometer and trip odometer. I pulled it in front of the service area, went in to get the service writer to show him what the truck was doing. Well he wasn't interested but, the service manager was standing there looking out the window so, the service writer got manager to go out and look at it with me. after a few minutes he went back inside and came back with a tech. The tech looked it over and seemed to want to go further and maybe try and fix it but, the manager said they saw what it was doing and to bring it in Tuesday the 24th. So i suggested maybe now would might be a good time to look because the problems are intermittent and Tuesday they might not be happening and it would make sense to try and fix the problems while they are happening.
So the rest of Thursday, Friday and Saturday problems occurred the whole time, Sunday now Monday nothing, figures.
So i will bring it in tomorrow and hope for the best, i guess if this doesn't go well it will be time to make some calls to anyone who will listen.
I was wrong my in my first post in New York State they do have a lemon law for used vehicles 3 times same problem but, unfortunately i bought this in Missouri and they do not have a used car lemon law. So i might have to try BBB or some other avenue I'm still looking into my options.
This has been a very unfortunate situation because i kinda like the truck for what it is and had have no other problems other than the lousy Chevrolet customer service, i guess GM hasn't changed the way they do things even after they got their money.
Anyway drop it off tomorrow and i guess i will see if three times a charm or if the nightmare continues. By the way the only reason I'm not trying to fix this is the certified warranty that still covers the truck, lucky me.

Hi rscentral,
We definitely recognize your frustration with this situation, and apologize that you've had to make repeat trips to the dealership in hopes of correcting this issue with your truck. Was your dealer ever able to come up with a fix? We would like to reach out to your dealership to speak with them further about the warning message you're getting and possibly help work towards a resolution. If interested, please message us your full contact information, VIN, mileage, and the name/location of your dealership. Thanks for your time and we hope to hear from you.

Hi Amber,
I dropped the truck off Tuesday morning (2-25-14) at 8:30am at (East Syracuse Chevrolet East Syracuse NY) I am still waiting to hear back from them and find out if they were able to fix it or not. I know the only way i will come out on the good side of this is situation is if a dealership is able to fix the problems.
I'm glad to see someone from Chevrolet Customer Care contact me like you have but, honestly i don't have a lot of faith in Chevrolet or their customer care or service at this point. Unfortunately in this country most companies i have dealt the customer service is non existent. Car manufacturers and their dealerships need to treat people much better than they are and do a much better job in helping them with their car issues, in many cases these problems are not their fault and the people are only looking for help. I have seen other forums and sites with the problems and complaints from people and it outrageous what people have to go through to get their cars fixed (and some never get fixed).
In my opinion i think these newer cars have way to much technology in them for your average daily driver and i believe that the struggles that the technicians have to repair them is directly related to this issue. In my opinion today's new and newer used cars are way overpriced and expensive to buy, very expensive to maintain and for all the so called fantastic technology and wonderful features they in turn have many problems that can't be fixed or are hard and expensive to fix. One would think in today's world with all the intelligent people out there, someone for the cost of these vehicles could build one that would go at least 100,000 miles minimum and trouble free.
Once again Amber thanks for taking the time and interest in my problem and i will reply back as soon as i hear from the dealership and what they have found. If they fix it and you are still interested in the names of the dealerships and my experiences with them i would be happy to give you that information via this forum, by email or by phone.

I sent you in an email and a private message a long letter about the crap i have gone through with this truck, GM and dealerships. Also included was all the information that you requested.
My last reply i had dropped off the truck to be fixed at East Syracuse Chevrolet I called this morning (2-28-14) and just what i figured nothing had been done. The reason was because they could not duplicate the problem and could not repair it until concern could be duplicated. Advise customer when concern happens, bring back to dealership and will we will get technician and get concern looked at. I told the service writer i guess it should have been looked at it last Thursday when the truck was there with the issues. His reply was that would not be fair to the other customers. But now they are telling me just bring it in with no appointment, (what about the other poor customers).
Now if you look at my last reply when i made the appointment at the dealership the truck was having the issues and when i suggested to the tech and service manager now would be good time to try and diagnose the problem the service manager said no we know what the issues are and will take care of it Tuesday. Well here it is Friday i guess that didn't go well for me. So now i have a two year old truck with 38,300 miles, a certified pre-owned warranty and i can't lock the doors (alarm goes off whenever it wants to), have to use the manual override button so i no longer have interior or cargo lights (without the button on lights come whenever they want to), door ajar warning light and chime come on at any time it decides to, and the odometer and trip odometer will not switch from one to the other.
I will let others know on other forums and sites what i have gone through and i will never buy a new or newer used GM product again. I had this truck for sale but, i have stopped the sale because i could not sell this lemon to anyone else without telling them about these issues. It's very obvious to me from the attitudes, remarks and results of these dealerships that GM took their bailout money and haven't change a thing on quality of the products and especially customer service. I have read many other posts and complaints over the years of people's horror stories and always hoped that would never be me, o well.
To all those customers and future customers i am telling you my story so you understand what you yourself could end up going through. Keep in mind my truck is a 2012 Chevy Colorado certified pre-owned chevrolet with 38,300 miles and warranties include: Bumper to bumper till 7-21-2015 or 48,000 miles...Powertrain warranty till 7-21-2016 or 100,000 miles. After 4 months, two states and three dealerships ( Lou Fusz Chevrolet Saint Peters MO., Reymore Chevrolet Central Square NY and East Syracuse Chevrolet East Syracuse NY) my truck is still not fixed and it looks as though it never will be unless maybe an independent shop was able to but, that would obviously cost me out of pocket. Strange you pay extra to get the supposed good vehicle with extra warranty and it turns out to be worthless.
Good luck to all and be very aware of what you are buying, from who you are buying and don't believe that certified is peace of mind, i did and look where i am now. Keep in mind that the pre-owned certified program is just another gimmick for car manufacturers and dealerships to use to sell you the customer one of their overpriced, overly technical, hard for them to diagnose and fix hunk of plastic, composites and some metal vehicle. Just because you may have a warranty doesn't mean that the dealerships can or will fix your vehicle for you. Check on the internet and see what is going on to other customers and i'm sure many of you have or are going through this or know someone who has.

Just to update anyone on here who might be interested, Amber from GM Customer Care has been in contact with me and asked if i would give her 1 chance to help me get this fixed. I have agreed and she has been contacting all the dealerships local to me and one of them called me Thursday. The service manager from Reymore Chevrolet called me to find out what has been going on with the truck, and why it has failed to be fixed. So i told her the whole story, including what happened when on Wednesday the 19th of February when i was told by a service writer at Reymore Chevrolet that they did not have a qualified Technician at that time to look at the truck and referred me to East Syracuse Chevrolet. Well obviously she wasn't to thrilled to hear that someone working there would say that to me. Anyways she has an understanding what is going on with the truck, that the problems are intermittent and feels the best chance they would have, is for me to bring it in with no appointment once the problems are happening and they will look at it once i arrive at the dealership. I have agreed to give her and Reymore's a shot at fixing the truck.
I have told the service manager at Reymore's and Amber from GM customer Care that this will be GM and Chevrolet's last chance than i start the my next phase of phone calls and contacts. I can only hope that this does go well and Reymore's is able to fix it when i bring it in.
Again for those of you following and are interested in how this turns out i will be updating with a new reply as soon as something new happens. Please feel free to reply with any questions, concerns or advise you may have.

Quick update problems have not reoccurred yet, they seem to happen two weeks to a month between occurrences. Last time was on 2-19-14 so as soon as they do i will be bringing it into Reymore's Chevrolet and will let you know what they find.
