Should I buy?
Hey guys,
I am new to the forum and I have been researching a potential second vehicle for my daily commute. I found a 2005 Colorado 4x4 reg cab 5 cyl with 156k miles. Clean carfax yada yada. It is for sale by an individual who I assume is trying to flip it off a trade he made. My question is with the dependability of this model and year. I have been seeing mixed reviews all night. Any praise, complaints, warnings or advise is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Well, no idea what the price is so hard to say.
Any vehicle at 156k is nearing all sorts of issues related to any sort of maintenance.
Is it rust free?
I'd be concerned for head gaskets and transmissions and suspension at that mileage and any rust issues on brake/fuel lines.

Price is $5800 and I know he has turned down 4800 already. I haven't been to look at it yet because it is a bit of a drive. Plus I found it last night. Looking at the pictures provided it seems to be in good shape and from all my days of playin in the mud and workin on my truck when I was younger I will check it out thoroughly. Normal wear like shocks don't really bother me because I know they will need replacing eventually. I was more concerned with issues with the design of the motor, transmission, wiring etc.

I bougt a new colorado about a monthe ago and drove it to the mnts and back
I put 400 miles on it and already having bad troubles
The throttle responce dropped and when you have a load or go up a hill or get on the gas it chuggles instead of going
Its not smooth
The dash components are very slow
I can turn up the radio and almost a whole second goes by before it actually works
I wish i had bought a nissan frontier
Cheaper
Nicer
And reliable
Chevorlet said that it was normal and to expect all this
I took it in the shop after a week of having it and they kept it for 4 weeks
I bought a hitch and brake box and trailer plug for the truck and dropped it off and they said they wont put it in. They put a hitch in for free
But it was the same one we bought
So now we have an extra hitch laying around
The heat/ac is not responcive i can cout to almost three before the actually work
It has major computer issues and gm sais its normal
I can be sure what brand i wont ever by from agian

I've never owned one, but I have heard/read many bad things about the older Chevy Colorado/GMC Canyon trucks. Maybe look for a V6 Silverado 1500 if you don't need the towing power of a V8... the 4.3 V6 is a much better engine than the one in the Colorado and the full sized trucks are more popular and easier to find parts for and work on.
