Cruze thinks it is overheating - help
Hey everyone, I have a 2013 Cruze with the 1.4L turbo. The car has 200k on it so I’ve had to replace a few things but I’m trying to just get another 6 months out of it before I upgrade. In the past it has had issues with the car overheating due to a faulty water pump. I’ve had that replaced, and since then there have been about 3 times where I have been driving it and it says “AC off due to high engine temp” and I look at the temp gauge and it’s all the way down on Cold, and the AC does NOT cut off and it continues to run fine but you can hear the fan running. I would cut it off and back on and it would be fine. It did it the other day again and I just so happened to look at the temp gauge as it did it. The temp gauge was just under halfway, and it said “AC turning off due to high engine temp”. As soon as it said that, the temp gauge once again dropped all the way to cold. The AC also remained on and was blowing cold air. I turned it off and back on and the problem persisted. This was a few days ago and now every time I start the car it immediately says the same thing. AC shutting off due to high engine temp, and the fans kick on. Does anyone have any ideas? The fact that it says it’s overheating before it’s been running for even a minute makes me think it might be a sensor. I’m not great with mechanics but I was thinking perhaps it is the thermostat gone bad. Thank you all in advance for all your help!
It can't possibly be overheating one minute from a cold start. Is your heater working okay? Are you sure that your coolant level is full?
