Default Temp sensor

I bought my 2013 Cruze in 2016 and I’ve had to replace the temperature sensor every year since I bought it. This cannot be normal, can it? It’s been in the shop twice within a week for the same issue. The first time the said it was the water pump and replaced it, but i never had an issue with it overheating. It would say “a/c off due to high engine temp” and the fan would run incredibly loudly.

Who is doing the work and are they using quality parts or the cheap parts from China?

. They put one in from GM and it’s right back in the shop for the same issue.

what is the code that is setting.

without knowing the code...my guess is...if the engine coolant temp sensor is telling the pcm the car is overheating...the pcm turns the fan on to prevent an overheating condition. if the coolant temp sensor is showing a false reading....to hot in your case...the fault is from either a bad sensor, shorted wiring or bad pcm. testing is needed to determine which one is the fault. the fault must be active at the time of diagnosis...impossible to find a fault that is not active.

i' don't think so...but I would never say never. It won't on most vehicles!!! it will set a coolant temp sensor circuit high code...the pcm will go into a heat strategy mode.

I don’t know what the code is, the garage just says the sensor needs replaced again, but one would think that there would be a reason that it keeps going bad on a yearly basis. I know when it went bad a couple days ago I had problems getting it started and they said it was because it was telling the computer that the car was too hot.
