I know, they just needed to change them old 4 speed auto's to higher gearing really.
That would have worked just fine.

When it comes to economy, you do not need to be able to accelerate fast in my opinion.
When you want power, forget economy.
This is what they make smaller engines and larger engines, even a half sized engine for a balance, but now they are trying to make smaller engines fast. Somewhere along the way, somethings gotta give...

Give it time, that ford will give you trouble around the same times as the Cruze did.

I will not lie, every new car comes to a point to where something goes wrong, and everything goes wrong at different times.

You probably would have been better off to get what needed fixed, repaired and then kept the car with the newer replaced parts.

This is why I pick up old cars with no rust for cheap and tend not to buy new cars. I fix them by buying parts and doing the work myself, then I know what is working and what is not. I do not have to play the guessing game on what will break when, because I know what I replaced, when I replaced it, how it went bad, and about when it will go bad again.

But to each his own. At least your still supporting America (If your from America) Buy buying as close to American as possible.

@aleena212: Glad everyone can help you.

In my opinion, 6 speed gearing should never be necessary in an automobile.
It causes more weight, and more possibilities of things not working.

They should have just stuck with the old style 4 SPD auto's from around 1996-1998. They just worked. They also weighed less and are plenty strong enough for today's jobs.

Somewhere along the way. All new cars will break. And all new cars will need parts replaced.

In my opinion, the parts and time that went into your Cruze was probably the last of it. Buying a new car will just make the process repeat, but with that car.

I forget how many times my 90 bertta dies in the middle of nowhere. I just called a towtruck and had it towed home, then fixed it. Inbetween is found a way to get around.
At one point my whole fanily and I were on a trip, 400 miles UT and not there yet, the car broke. I towed it to an auto store and fixed it in the lot.

But each thing that broke was because with age and usage, parts wear out.

This is what hurt the Cruz when it first came out with many new designs in 2011. They were tested in every possible way. But not in the one way that is most important, time based testing, longativity. Later on these parts were improved.

The latest Cruze models will easily outlast the earlier ones because of this.
This is true for any car from any manufacturer. I see it all the time.
I also see a couple things or defective parts here and there and people think that all cars of that type or from thatcompany are lemons. Which is not the case, its a stearotype because of this that happens.

Anyways, I do not wish to hijack OP's thread. So this is my last post here. And he solved his issue so there is no more need to follow the thread. If you wish to talk more, just message me.
