305 to 383 swap transmission help
i have a 82 firebird with a 305 small block 4 speed manual.
now ive heard that when i swap engines that the transmission will bolt right up but that it wont be able to handle the proformance i want to get out of my car so i was going to upgrade to a transmission from a 350 just grab something from pick and pull untill i can get money for new stuff. what problems will i encounter swaping them what will fit into my car should i bother with it? suggestions? i basicly want a 383 with decent top speed and good low end torque without droping 3grand into my car atleast not yet

kay i know that the t5 5 speed manual is a peace of crap but i did say 4 speed so is the 4 speed garbage? i would prolly be better off with the 6 speed just because those extra gears will give me more acceleration. and my 2nd question is since that the 6 speed is bigger would it still fit under my car with no troubles? and what about shift kits is there no point to that?
