I agree, What i also noticed was that the 1406 carb has a 4" "yellow" step-up spring where-as the other models have the 5" "orange" but that should work better for larger cams that make less vacuum correct?

Today i put the new rods in, it is noticeably richer at idle and part throttle and some of the detonation went away but its still there. I must be moving in the right direction. The next step is to apply the timing tape to the balancer and install the re-curve kit to dial in the timing and advance
