So I am work on a old 396 and I have the heads off but the valves keep moving when I am trying to remove the springs. Any tricks to help with this?

Welcome from Florida. Which removal tool are you using? With a good removal tool the valves should not be moving.

Hello from North Carolina, I might be asking a ton of questions lol I am taking part apart a 1969 396/375 or more HP four bolt main to rebuild for my car and trust me I will have help putting it back together but for now I am breaking it down. I am not sure if some of the issue is the performance added springs making it tough it is the springs within the springs.I I am using the tool with the two prongs and the star handle you tighten down.

If you suggest a better one please do I got one off after a bout 3 hours lol

You can use an impact wrench.
