Unhappy 2006 Chevy Equinox LT 2WD - Gas Problems

Hi guys,

I crossed over from the Honda side and decided to get an SUV. It's a given that I would be using more gas but I think I'm using way more than I should be. I filled up my tank to full which was around 56 litres. I drove about 70km and it's already ate about 1/4 of my gas. I bought this car used at 150k and it's in pretty decent shape. What should I look into that may be causing this?

Much appreciated.

I may have jumped too fast when posting this, but even so this equinox loves to eat my gas. I haven't used the entire tank yet so I don't know an exact number until Wednesday at most since I have a bit of driving ahead of me this long weekend.

Has anyone installed a cold air intake and had better gas consumption. I was thinking of picking up this but I wasn't sure if my vehicle has a mass airflow sensor, as this model will not work if it does have one.

You wouldn't by chance have a picture of what this looks like, would you? Reason I am asking is because I am starting to have starting issues. So far its been once a day. I looked over on a different thread and they mentioned to check the SAF, air filter, or trying different gas. The other day i checked to see if the air filter needed replacing but it was clean. I didn't see a SAF attached but could have overlooked it.
