Default 2012 Equinox 2.4 Ecotec engine noise

My 2012 equinox 2.4 150000 miles is making a ticking noise when accelerating. Goes away after about 5-10 minutes of driving. Its loud at first then softens. I checked the oil today and it was a quart low. I normally do not have to add oil between oil changes but I'm over by 300 miles. Im scheduled for monday for an oil change. Any ideas on what the issue is? Thank you

Probably a cracked exhaust manifold. This is a common issue with the 2.4L.

Thank you! I was leaning that way. My wife has been complaining about an exhaust smell which started this week. And its louder this week. Sounds like it has aftermarket exhaust. I picked up a manifold last night and will be replacing it tonight
