I have a 2016 Chevy Equinox and the lift gate latch does not seem to be getting enough power. The hydraulics are manual and not power so the issue is soley with the latch unlatching. The fuse in the engine compartment for the lift gate is fine and I replaced the latch and when I press the button on the tailgate I can hear it trying to unlatch but it doesn't seem to be getting enough power to do so. The lights over the license plate work so I know power is getting to the whole back assembly as well. Any ideas?

 

clean and lube the latch assembly.
make sure the two latch halves are aligned properly, and that the hinges aren't worn out.
Make sure the ground connection for the latch motor is clean and tight.
