SO the power lift gate decided to act odd


I press the button it come up 1/3 of the way then shuts....


I try to open it by hand and it wont stay up......


Are my gas struts out? and is it the motor saying its too heavy?

 

That is exactly how I would interpret that... weak struts....

 

Agreed. Maybe you could "gently" help it along with one hand and see if it continues to go up? Sounds like bad struts though to me.

 

Yup, after testing, it appears my struts are done.....


Best place and brand to get struts?

 

One strut was bad replaced both 36 per strut from oriellys. Easy fix.
