Default 07 Tahoe Power Liftgate Issue

Hi All,

I took my 07 Tahoe LTZ 4x4 to the dealer because of a problem with the power lift gate.

When the liftgate is electronically opened, it makes a "clunk" noise when it reaches maximum travel. The dealer says that GM is aware of the issue and no fix is available yet. Truck has a little over 6K miles on it now and it did not make this noise before.

FYI --I guess mine was one of the "early" 07 tahoes that does not have the FLEX FUEL badge.

If yours is making noise, might want to check in with the dealer.

PS --great truck!!!

Jim

I dont have any rear badging and mine DOES make that noise. I have to take my Tahoe to the dealer replace somethings and I'm having them look at that as well.

Things they are replacing:
-mirror actuator (mirror vibrates @ high speed)
-drivers door seal (door doesn't closee all the way w/out slamming)

New issues for them to look at:
-hockey sticks (on rear windows)
-power tailgate popping sound (when fully extended)
-idling vibration (might be from driveshaft)
-front bumper cover alignment

Sorry, didn't mean to highjack your post.
Thanks, Jay

I got a first run Tahoe without the rear Flex-Fuel badging and mine makes a hell of a noise, it's my wife bitching when I tell here to jump back out and close the damn thing. []

Has anyone had this fixed? I noticed the other day that mine makes the same noise.

The noise is normal, the rear lift-gate is very heavy and the lift mechanism is extremely powerful and will make a certain amount of noise as it unloads at the end of the doors range of travel.
For those of you that have power lift gate's they will eventually start to make this clunk or pop noise don’t be alarmed nothing is wrong.

Thanks. I didn't think anything of it at first, but since jbcobb's dealer said something about GM working on a fix, I assumed it was a problem.

Hello all,
I have had my 07 Tahoe at the Dealership many times and the lift gate is one of the issues I've reported.
The problem I was having was when the power liftgate was going up there sounded like there was a marble rolling around and at full extension there is a big clunking sound.
The tech found that the marble sound was from a loose bolt rolling around, so he fixed it and the clunking noise is something GM is aware of and since I brought it in for that reason they will contact me when they figure out the fix for it.
That's the second loose bolt they've found, the other was on the front bumper, had them fix that too. Hopefully there aren't others.
Thanks, Jay

I have the same "marble rolling" sound on my lift gate. Guess I have a bolt as well rolling around. Will mention it to the dealer next time I am there. Thanks.
