I put a remote start on my Equinox. The back tailgate locked then it stopped locking. I took it back to the dealer and they removed the remote start, but the tailgate still does not lock. It will not lock by pressing the inside door button or the remote. Please let me know if you have any suggestions.

Also, the driver's side door check clicks very loudly when I open and shut the door. Is this an easy fix?

After market remote start, yes. I had the installer completely remove the starter and it still would not lock. He said it might be a relay of some sort.

 

Hi. I had a simular problem with mine. The door locks went crazy. Took it to a chevy dealership to diagnose. ( the installer has to pay for it!) It turned out to be the door lock actuator. This is located in the driver door. The reason was when they hooked up the remote start with alarm they tapped into the dome light. Seems they must tap after the BCM, not before. These Equinox's are different in many ways.

 

It is probably the actuator in the hatch. The remote starter only locks or unlocks vehicle....if the door are working, then the hatch should work. If it doesn't...it is vehicle related, not in the starter.

Fragoots....No offence, but your dealer is totally wrong. In order to get the door locks to work properly, you must wire the aftermarke starter in BEFORE the BCM. I have done many equinox\torrents and have yet to have a problem with the locks
