Default ignition key problems

Hi All, I bought this 2010 Extended Express 3500 to convert to travel van and do a cross country trip. I barely got into starting interior before have mechanical issues. New fuel pump, new right side front hub because of ABS and stabiltrack dash light indicators and now key ignition issues ! I experienced that sometimes the key would not return to run position after starting. So I would have to return manually. Then this time it quit after driving a short drive of ten feet. First attempt at restart nothing, second attempt didn't start strong as usual but managed to start and stay running. Got it home in the driveway, shut off then tried to restart nothing no crank! So I thought it was bad starter switch so I replaced it but nothing changed. No crank and no key return to run position!

Should the starter switch have a spring return right on the switch itself? Or is there a spring inside the loch cylinder?
