Default 1999 Tahoe right side cargo door latch busted

right rear cargo door on 1999 tahoe is busted and wont open. i have no clue how to fix it or even how to get the door open for easier access. for reference, its the latch above the lock actuator, the lock actuator itself is in near perfect condition, the latch itself broke

Look on the inside of the door and see if there is a panel that you can remove to get access to the inside of the handle to open the door.

unfortunately, that's not really a possibility. the panel opening only accesses the lock actuator and not the door latch

There has to be a way to get in there to replace the handle. The opening should be big enough to reach in there with your hand to gain access.

See if you can find a diagram of the door mechanism either online or maybe get the service manual. Manual sets aren't cheap, but the CD-rom version usually isn't bad.

The latches usually work with levers and maybe you can pull something to get it loose.
