Default 2009 Express cruise contrtol not working

We bought a 2009 AWD Express last year and the cruise does not work. I've replaced the brake light switch and it still does not work. The light on the controls comes on still. is there anywhere else I can look? it does have an air bag code and an evap code

Fix the codes first.

Most likely the clock spring located under the steering wheel airbag in the column. You also might first check the wiring under the dash near the steering column. They can break or get cut easily when someone is working under there.
