2014 Express 4500 P1682 Starting Issue
I have been fighting an electrical gremlin for two years! The usual symptom is the instrument cluster goes dead for a few seconds. (That hasn't been resolved) Now it has decided to attack the starting circuit. So, if it has sat for a few days, when I turn the key, the starter engages and the engine starts. However, when I release the key, the starter stay engaged! When this happens, I shut if off and restart. Eventually, it will run without the starter hanging up. When it does, it runs very rough and will not move itself. The information screen shows " Reduced power mode" and the check engine light is on. The code reader displays P1682. I can clear the code and it starts and runs as it should. I did swap the start relay with the AC relay but no change. Any thoughts on where to start looking?
Some of the service history: It has to sit for a few days before the starter issue pops up. If I start it every morning, it doesn't seems to happen. The instrument cluster has been replaced. The ignition switch has been replaced twice!
Thanks,
Gary

If you trace your problem to a bad relay you might want to review THIS post and consider filing a complaint with NHTSA (link in the post)
as this may be a defective part problem.
NHTSA can order a recall but there needs to be a number of complaints on file.
