I will try that in the morning. I finally found a good wiring diagram now as well. There are several things I see now that look promising. Two fusible links that share a circuit with the gauges, lights, and att shift control. If one is broken it could also cause a relay to stay closed circuit when the ignition is off. Fingers crossed and sleep.

Fuesable link will be just that. It prevents a short circuit from damaging the device. If what I suggested is what you have, with the battery hooked up, and with your volt meter, pull fuses individually till you see the voltage stop. That will be the problem. It could also be more than one device.

Turned out to be just the ground to frame from the engine. I replaced the woven ground strap and I'm back in business! Thank you for the help. Your persistence kept me motivated to see it through.
