Curiously, the key doesn't need to be on for this app. My screen cleared earlier because I pulled it out. It is in now, and I'm upstairs, overlooking the driveway. I just had to reconnect.

Yes, it doesn't mean it's a fake, it is what it is. Probably when you bought it, that was the latest version, hopefully. Why I bring this up is because sellers are saying v2.1 or v2.2, which have all the latest parameters, but are actually providing earlier versions. The ID app info says that some pins are not connected on some of the items. I'm assuming the packaging is such that testing with the ID app, will void any version claims by the seller. Might be able to return them, but will probably cost $4 shipping on a $8 item. I read somewhere today that ELM charges $16 per piece in quantity, to manufacturers just for the board, so how could you get a complete scanner for $8, unless from a pirate company? I probably worry too much, but hopefully, more people have bought them here and we can ID them.

Because you don't know what you don't know. If Stan didn't test his with the ID app, he wouldn't know what he missing. From what I can tell the numbers on the left side of the app are the number of parameters available. I think you said you ordered from Ebay, for really cheap (inexpensive), and I don't blame you, I look for a good deal too, but then I started seeing comments about them being cheap Chinese knockoff's, not using the current versions (updates). Should be interesting to see when yours arrives what version it is. I'm going to guess it's not v2.2, but again, I could be wrong, then we'll all be logging in on Ebay and ordering them.
