Brake upgrade options
I recently got a 1996 Express 1500. While changing the sparkplugs I noticed that it has 1 piston calipers. I have a Dodge Dakota which I swapped the front knuckles to where I could use dodge durango 2 piston brakes and now that thing brakes like a champ. Is there something similar I could to to the van? I came across some wilwood d52 series 2 piston calipers that are supposedly bolt-in but word around seems to be that they don't really improve the brakes. Need some help here.
I don't know if there are calipers that would fit. Maybe there are but if you increase the surface area on the front you will have to do the same for the rear. If you don't like the braking performance I'd suggest starting with pads which can make a bigger difference than many think. Look into DOT edge codes. Look for some GG pads. You might have EE, FF or worse FE (fade when hot) on there now and the GG will make a big difference. Sometimes the edge codes are on the back and visible in pictures online like this

But often they are on the edge and not visible in pictures. I've had good luck with Ackebono which is who often makes the factory pads. These Ackebono are likely FF.

If you have drums on the rear you might want to see what can get there. I don't think I've ever seen better than FF so I've stayed with FF Ackebono on my current daily driver which is a Saturn Vue
