Default chevy express ecm problem

HELP! My 1998 Chevy Express has been sitting for about a year. It worked well before then. The van cranks but does not start. No spark or fuel. ECM says 'link error' No idea what happened over the year, but need to get this thing started asap... any suggestions would be appreciated! My mechanic cant find solution, and I'm pretty helpless with this stuff, so if answers can be dumbed down for the ignorant (thats me) to understand. Thank you!

It means it's not communicating with PCM. I'd suggest, locate the ECM, and PCM (I don't know where they are on your truck exactly) pull the wire terminals off both devices, and uise a good electrical cleaner to clean, and reinstall.
