Default Shaking during acceleration

My 2000 model Express is shaking, not only during accelerating but also when I put it in gear to drive. It has a new motor and spider injectors, new tires, I’m thinking maybe the U joint?

Thanks. I really know nothing about this, but was told that I shouldn’t drive it until it’s fixed.

You mean when you're shifting and your foot is on the brake? That wouldn't be the U-joint. That sounds like a misfiring cylinder. Maybe there was a problem with the engine installation.

Check your computer for codes. Check U-joints and carrier bearing if you have a split drive shaft.

Thanks, so I took it to the mechanic, he thinks it’s the distributor cap.

That wouldn't surprise me. It's a common problem with the pre-DIS Vortecs.

My 88 G-20 shook like that. It was in fact the distributor cap. Arced like crazy inside. New cap, rotor, plugs, wires, fuel filter, vacuum lines. I can roast the tires now.
