Well... Then check the fuel pressure. If it's bad and you want to change it out I'd contemplate cutting a hole in the floor rather than dropping the tank. Just do a clean job so you can use the cut out piece as the access panel. I've never had good luck with anything other than a factory pump.
Is the tank empty? They are heavy if full and my luck it's always full. Can you syphon it out? I've had bad luck with that too. Are the fuel filler hoses still soft or do they feel like hard plastic? If there are special bends it can be hard to find and expensive. If straight...it's just expensive...just about priced by the inch not foot. It isn't impossible but the last fuel pump I did I took the bed off rather than drop the tank.
