Default 2003-2014 Awd

I own a 2003 2500 Express AWD Equipped with the 5.3. Just curious if anyone knows what is different between it, and 1500 AWD, cause I also own a 2005 AWD with the 5.3 but is a 1500. Both are 6 Lug. Do they have a different rear Axle?? More Leafs? My employee uses the 1500 so don't have time to look at them side by side let alone climb under them side by side. Thanks.

very weird ...
The 2003 Chevy Vans brochure says "All-Wheel-Drive (Regular Wheelbase 1500 models only)"
No mention of a 2500. Nothing in specifications either.

The 2003 Commercial Vans brochure lists three AWD models in the fleet options:
  • Cargo 1500 AWD
  • Cargo 2500 AWD
  • Passenger 2500 AWD
  • (no Passenger 1500 AWD)

the trailering section lists something different:
  • Cargo 1500 AWD
  • Cargo 2500 AWD
  • Passenger 1500 AWD
  • (this time, no Passenger 2500 AWD)

and specifications at the end, have the same models listed as the trailering section.

I don't know what they were smoking.

Weirder still are the payloads:
  • Cargo 1500 AWD - 2052 lbs, (1 ton)
  • Cargo 2500 AWD - only 1918 lbs (134 lbs less than the 1500)

Wow, well thanks for for finding info, it is weird for sure, was kinda curious if someone in here already had info. But I'll crawl under and take some comparison pictures of leafsprings and rear Axle. They are both cargo vans, the 2500 is a 4 door.
