Default whats this hole in upper fan shroud?

whats this hole in upper fan shroud? seams like GM didn't build the express w/ this hole.

did someone purposely make this hole? doe's it have a beneficial function? or could it be damage? should it be sealed off?

makes me wanna make a ram air directly in air box like I have on my car.

thanks

LOL.. Oh yah. GM is occasionally known to crudely cut out a crooked hole with a dull saw at the factory to improve air flow.

That would be a huge rodent. You could fit a raccoon through that hole. There's nothing under there worth chewing for.

My guess would be hillbilly engineering to work on the hood latch

you know why the rodents chew wires? they get a buzz when they reach the 5vdc. reminds me to place a big mothball in the car in back yard.

yes you guess good. that GM hood latch has a history of failing. curious if it was jammed up do they unlatch though the grill?

I'll fab a piece of aluminum an cover it, unless you think it's a hillbilly ram air?

the hole doesn't hurt anything. Might come in handy some day. I would just cover it with black gaffer tape.
