Default 06 burb 8.1L aux electric fan add on

has anyone added a electric fan at the radiator/condenser for better a/c cooling and keep the manual (water pump driven) steel fan w/clutch installed. I seen some electric fan setups that are 2.5 inches wide witch will fit between the clutch and radiator. I have a 5 blade steel fan on there now and wonder if there is larger blade for more air movement at low engine rpm. It has no issues with coolant temps, always below 210 mark.

If there is room, I would place the electric fan in front of the AC condenser.

oil cooler, trans cooler, and hood latch framework don't leave much room, passenger side might take a small fan but wouldn't cover enough area, thanks for the reply

I agree, any addition of an Electric Fan, should be in front of the Radiator. Most of any value should be 10" or larger. You can connect the power for it (relay may be necessary), directly to the power for the Compressor.
Also, they make 7, 9 & 11 blade Fans for most of the Thematic Clutch assemblies.

Increasing the Fan Blades rarely corrects the problem I think you are trying to address. Though they do increase the volume of air, they are slow to react to the need of the A/C system. I have also seen Butterfly Switches installed in the Electric Fan Circuit. They sense Air Pressure of forward motion, and shut the (power intensive) Fan off as your speed increases.

I have an 02 express 3500 with the 8.1. While the motor never ran hot, I to had bad airflow over the AC and trans cooler. To the point that my trans ran about 10° over recommended. Tried four different clutches, but the fact of the matter was is the bendix just never got hot enough to engage the fan. The radiator is to big in my opinion. So anyway, I went with the biggest flex a lite stainless and adapter. Trans runs 40° cooler, ac works at long lights. To boot, I've seen no mileage diffrence. Just for kicks I put the same fan on a 5 HP Briggs motor to see if the huge HP loss everyone says they take could be seen. That little 5 HP didn't even know it was there.
