Default When did they change the front speaker mounts?

On the Express/Savanna vans some of the front speaker housings are rivetted to the door and the paper element is fused to the plastic housing. On other vans there is a speaker housing bolted to the door and the speaker bolts to the housing. Both appear to use a 6.5" speaker but you can't afix an aftermarket speaker to the housing with the fused speaker element.

I need to figure out when this change occurred because I need new front speakers for my 2004 Chevrolet Express 3500. I would pull the door cards to figure out what is installed in mine but it is below freezing and something will probably break.

RockAuto's compatibility shows them being interchangeable but I'm not sure when the date split is or if it's some weird option.

Cant tell/remember if the plastic housing was bolted to the door..... most likely riveted. But remember very well unscrewed both door speakers to replace them.
I have a 2004 Savana 3500.
This process took me about half an hour per door.

Have a look here : https://www.crutchfield.ca/S-BZV3Bnj...mc-savana.html

Good luck
