Well, it has been 9 1/2 hours since you posted last night. First, you're posting in the wrong section, and people that can help, are not seeing your post. Back firing through the carb is timing. Is this a point or electronic distributor? Make sure you are on #1 TDC, Follow the firing order on the distributor cap, to each cylinder, go from there.

timing is set and its electronic distributor it trys to start but it takes alot longer than it should to fire, then its not really a backfire its more like a burp

Recheck your timing, and look at the spark, is it white, red? If you are confident of the ignition, then move on to the carb. If you can post a little more information, that would help. I.E new carb, new ignition, was running, replaced timing chain etc.

Welcome to the forum.
Like Kevin said, it would be helpful if we knew the recent history on what is been going on. The only other thing I could think of would be the plug wires themselves.
A number of years ago I was helping troubleshoot a similar problem and didn't know the recent history. Turned out that he just washed the engine compartment the day before. The problem would have been easy to solve had I known that at the beginning. 😎
