Backfiring or burping through carb
Hey there chevy peeps, so i got a sbc 307- and im having issues with it burping back through the carb, i have a gear drive in t and timing is on, just did a carb rebuild , its a holley 1850, cant get it figured out.. any help would be appreciated

Well, it has been 9 1/2 hours since you posted last night. First, you're posting in the wrong section, and people that can help, are not seeing your post. Back firing through the carb is timing. Is this a point or electronic distributor? Make sure you are on #1 TDC, Follow the firing order on the distributor cap, to each cylinder, go from there.

Recheck your timing, and look at the spark, is it white, red? If you are confident of the ignition, then move on to the carb. If you can post a little more information, that would help. I.E new carb, new ignition, was running, replaced timing chain etc.

pretty confident with timing , rebuilt holly 1850 but just picked up a edelbrock , it has a gear drive in it and it was running, then i switched intake over to edelbrock and been ****ty ever since

Like Kevin said, it would be helpful if we knew the recent history on what is been going on. The only other thing I could think of would be the plug wires themselves.
A number of years ago I was helping troubleshoot a similar problem and didn't know the recent history. Turned out that he just washed the engine compartment the day before. The problem would have been easy to solve had I known that at the beginning. 😎
