I read that the later engines had different flywheel bolt patterns and a one piece rear main seal.

I think,one piece rear main seal goes back to 87?about when roller cams were introduced, bell housing the same,ls motors we're the change,now you got me checking

Yep,you are correct,86 newer,needs the flywheel to match,crank bolt holes changed,not ring gear

Says the exhaust manifolds are slightly different and require the newer ones, the intake is very different, the flexplate ID is smaller, but other than that, it bolts up to a 350 trans right and motor mounts are right. My old 350 has headers which are going in the bone pile anyway and apparently all the old bracketry will work as well.

Yep,so some parts stay with donor motor,I think tbi is better for a truck,more low end torque then the dreaded spider,I made it a minute into video,started to yawn,what was next,how to make coffee?

So,no reason to not do it,with tbi on top,vortec base, maybe 300 or slightly less h.p.,totally stock,not bad
