1997 Chevy Pick up takes minutes cranking over to start?????

1997 Chevy Pick with a 5.7l and it takes about 2 mins of cranking before its starts up. Once it starts up, its runs perfect. Any ideas? Fuel pump? Fuel regulator?
Any ideas what this could be?

exactly what you think. start with fuel filter, check or have fuel pressure checked after filter change.
