1999 cavalier 2.2l ohv engine removal
Im new to the forums and to Cavaliers; am a DIY repair hobbyist, & hope this is a good place for my question. Im fixing up a 99 cavalier with the 2.2L ohv engine, and 5-speed trans. It has feeble compression on cylinders #3 & #4 & high mileage; So I want to remove it and rebuild it for my wife's sister. I like to take engines out by hoisting them up, since I dont have a good way to raise the car, working on grass.
I have the 2 volume shop manual set.
Can the 2.2L be taken out 'updward'?
Thanks for any help. D. Denison

you can take them out the top, I have found that removing the crank pulley makes the job a little easier (a little more clearance) you will have to play with different angles of the drivetrain to get it out, but for the most part it isnt too bad to do.
