Default 1999 Suburban Roof Rack Removal

Is the roof rack a standard Chev Suburbvan option? It is fastened down with Torx T-25 screws. If I remove them will I lose the connecting nut or other fastener in the roof, or is it fixed in the roof. In other words, is it properly designed to remove and re-install?

Welcome to the forum.

I don't know for sure but expect Chevy uses Well Nuts to attach the rack with. In which case you can remove the rack from the outside.

Assuming you figured it out, but will tell you what I found when removing mine.

I decided to add an additional cross member and had to replace the rack as a whole, so grabbed the torq and went to town.

I found that a couple of the well nuts were just tired and shagged and would spin freely. Also had one or two that were rusted out and couldn't even keep the well nut in. I had to punch a couple in adn haven't had any issues with hearing them bounce around etc.
