Default 09 Suburban roof rack cross rail lock

Hi All,

I'm new to this forum and I did search first for the answer to the problem I'm having which is:

Is there some trick to locking down the cross rails? I have tried to squeeze the clamping mechanism(s) as hard as I can but can't get the clamp(s) to lock in place.

I'd take it back under warranty if it wasn't already out of warranty

TIA
Gary

Welcome to the forum.

Did you try moving slightly forward and backward as you tried to lock? I think there are discrete notches but don't remember for sure.

Are you saying you already have 36K mi on it?

Thanks 73Shark, notches would make sense.

I bought a fleet vehicle that had some serious road time so yes the vehicle has 37,450 miles on it. I got the dealer to "supposedly" throw in the certified used car warranty but I haven't got that verified yet.

With the Certified Used Vehicle warranty that comes with most of our vehicles sold used you would be able to get this issue taken care of at the dealership. I would suggest you wait till this gets verified through our system to make sure that you are covered and then take it in to have it repaired.

Thanks Jeff,

The rails did have notches in them for the locking mechanism so all is fine now.

How do I find out if I actually received the certified used warranty since I was given no paperwork even after exhaustive efforts to get something in writing?

if you regularly use your roof rack and cross rails make sure to periodically check the screws that hold the rail to the lock mechanism. They are a torx bit head, I need to find one to replace one that backed out and got lost...
