2.8L engine rebuild
I am rebuilding a 2.8 L v6, I am making a Frankenstein engine just a little. I have two 2.8, each with a different crank. The balanced crank and camshaft are already in the block, and it’s got a nice crosshatch.
I am new to this, but I am not stupid. I’m doing as much research as I can. My fear is that the engine will not start or will knock once I get it in the car.
I am reusing the pistons from the externally balanced 2.8, since it only had 55k on it. Is this in poor taste? What on the pistons other than bearings and rings should I replace if the engine ran smooth before?
my reason for rebuilding is to use the internally balanced crank, since I can’t find a counter balanced flywheel anywhere for under $600.
I just need words of advice and/or encouragement. I’m so worried that I will miss something.
