2001 chev 2500 hd 6.0 Transmission over Heating
Alright guys I'm lost. I have a 2001 Chevrolet 2500 HD 4x4 6.0 gas 4L80E transmission. The trans is over heating with normal driving. Here are the things I have done
Replaced transmission due to last one crapped out so installed new one with upgraded rear housing. The heating issue existed before and after the replacement
installed oversized trans cooler.
installed new oversized radiator with transcooler built into it.
installed 12" high flow aux. fan
replaced the Rubber Cooling hoses on system like from reservoir to radiator, water pump hose return hose etc.
Felt both transmission lines they are both HOT seems to be even temp give or take a few degrees
Checked to make sure gauge was reading correctly by hooking up to a SNAP ON tablet scanner. NO CODES given either
I did a test and pulled thermostat out of engine to see if it would help any. No noticeable changes. Replaced thermostat with new one.
Disconnect trans line and blew through them to ensure it was clear of debris.
Water pump is about 4 years old could it be getting weak ? is that even a thing ? its not leaking.
I'm Hearing that there is a mod you can do on the thermostat on transmission to where it stays open all the time ?? I don't know how true that is or what they are doing.
Temps on transmission is running from 200 - 230F.
what do i do next ??
