2007 Impala Transmission Whine
I owe a 2007 Impala with 69000 miles. Normally while driving around town there is no transmission whine or problem. But when I have a long deceleration such as coming off an expressway ramp to a complete stop and then accelerating a low level whine occurs in the transmission. It is more prevalent when I shift into 3rd or 2nd descending a steep grade and come to a complete stop at the foot of the hill. NO WHINE while descending but as soon as I accelerate from stop at foot of hill the whine occurs till it shifts into 2nd or 3rd.
Fluid level is correct and appears pink and smells OK.

I siphoned off 7 qts (about 1/2 of all) of transmission fluid and replaced it with new fluid. Noise immediately disappeared and hasn't returned after 7 months and 10000 miles.
Use a small plastic hose in the transmission dip stick port. Or completely change all fluid
by removing pan. Good luck

Don't panic...yet
Ok, took me a while, but, the whining noise may be your power steering pump. Try starting car, make fluid lever is good, put in neutral(apply parking brake😄,then turn steering wheel all the way right n left, hold for about 5-10 seconds while increasing eng. rpm just a bit. Try it. If that doesn't work, you made need some money to fix the problem, now, you can panic...😄good luck!
