Default 283 to 305 HO swap

I don't know much at all about Chevys. So here's my problem. I bought a 68 Rambler that has a 283 and powerglide from a 66 chevelle installed in it. The motor was nicely installed, and has new exaust (small duals). The small exaust makes a swap to a larger (small block) motor not very feasible, but the 283 is tired. I located a 1986 305 HO fairly cheap, And it'll get me by till I can do something different. What I need to know is what flexplate do I need for this swap? I've read that the bolt pattern is different on the flywheel for 86 and later motors. I don't have the motor out yet, so I'm not sure about the current flexplate and converter, other than they're stock for that motor and tranny. I have found flexplates online that might work, but I just ain't sure.

My budget is kinda tight for now so I need to be sure before I buy any parts. And the Rambler is being driven daily so I can't really take it off the road for long.Any help would be greatly appreciated.

yes u need a new flywheel, the 86 and up are a lil diff, and they are externally ballanced, should be about $50 for a stock replacement, $100 for sfi certified (u probly dont need it) one thing i dont know is if they need to be balanced after u get it (i doubt it) the 305 HO is a cool engine, i used to have one lots of low end torque
