Default 4x4 doesn't work-HELP!

Ijust boughta '94 S15 GMC Jimmy AT w/push button 4x4. When I tried the 4x4 switch it blinked 3 times but didn't engage. Now it doesn't do anything when I push the button. Any ideas on what could be the problem? I live in the Northeast & NEED 4x4! Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks!

ok, there are two very comon problems that i see every week with electronic4X4. first is the switch. but since it is blinking like you said it is, i am going to guess that you are in need of an encoder motor. you can pay more than you want to from the dealer, or you can pull one from a wrecking yard truck. keep us posted.

Here is something that may help ya out to get the 4x4 to work (works on my 2000 so its worth a try). When trying to get the 4x4 to engauge try driving forward a few feet and then reverse a few feet and keep cycling back and forth while trying the 4x4. It might take a few tries but it should get the t-case to shift into 4x4. If that dont work shift into neutral and try 4 low. For some reason the t-case usually has an easier time doing that than 4hi. If you can get it into low it usually will allow you to get into 4hi from there.
