Default '52 deluxe 216 to 235

Hey everybody,

I have what may seem to be a stupid question but I am wondering about my options. I have a '52 deluxe and am about to pull engine to re-build and I was wondering if it was possible to use my 216 block and head and some internal stuff to bring it up to a 235? I know i will at least need to get different pistons and such but I am wondering if its possible. I saw somewhere that the two engines are crazy similar and all I would need is to change some internal stuff. Any help or insight would be awesome.

Thanks,

James

I don't think so using what you have. Your are looking at boring the cylinders, which can be done, however the head would be the issue.

Thank you for the reply, now another question. I have googled for the last hour or so for a 216 re-build kit and everything I find is for the 3.9 L 235, do you or anybody know of a place that has a master re-build kit for 216? I am trying to do the whole sha-bang, I fould 1 place that has one for just over $900.

Thanks,

James

Why don't you buy a 235 either rebuit, or do it yourself?

i think you would be beter served finding a doner 55-56 chevy with a 235 and the same ooptionj's you have now ,and building that is the simplest. we did it to my gramp's 51 and switched it to the open drive line .
