Default 92' GMC (K) 350 TBI - opinion and advice

I have a '92 GMC Sierra that I bought new. 5.7 (350)K engine w/ tbi. It has almost 300K miles on it and I still love to drive it. I rebuilt the engine at 200K. I dressed the engine up w/ a chrome timing cover and oil pan. Ever since I have had oil leaks at the junction oil pan and timing cover. I have replaced bith gaskets four times with ample amounts of rtv each time to no avail. I finally decide to replace the cover and pan. I got a nice heavy walled oil pan from my local NAPA store but the timing cover they supplied is a plastic or nylon. I am not opposed to using but it has "cast in" locator pins. The pins in my engine block are very insistant on stay where they are. Are these possibly threaded in? Any one have any experience with this plastic cover and/or suggestions on how to get the OEM pins out?

Any help would be appreciated.
