Default 97 2500 Cheyenne ABS problems

The light started coming on and off a couple of weeks ago. Then after a couple of days I began hearing a motor running in the front left tire area whenever turning to the right. This sounded like the ABS was engaging but I never even had my foot on the breaks. This would also happen even with the ABS light off. Took it to mechanic and they said the break pads all round need replacing and the pitman arm assembly in the front left. I had them replace all that they said and yet the problem is still there. The light occasionally comes on and the grinding noise still occurs, though not every time, I turn to the right. Could this be a bad sensor? Help
