Default 97 chevy 7.4 no start help

I was driving my truck the other day and the engine randomly cutout and wouldnt restart. After getting it home and looking at it i seen one of my sparkplug wires had gotten on to the exhaust manifold and grounded out. I replaced the wire hoping to solve the issue but there was no change. After that i checked the codes and found code p1362 which is low voltage to icm. So i took out a sparkplug and put it in the wire and had someone crank the truck. While cranking it gets no spark but randomly it will make this weird grinding noise and the sparkplug will spark then stop again. The grinding noise sounds like its coming from the distributor area but its hard to tell. The grinding noise is completely random any ideas on what it could be?

If you hear a strange noise maybe coming from the distributor, I certainly would suggest opening the distributor to see what's happening in there.
One grounded plug wire isn't going to kill the engine. All the same, it shouldn't be that way. You were right to have fixed it.
When you say "wouldnt restart", do you mean it cranks but does not start? Try the tests at How To Test The GM ICM link below.

Code P1362 https://www.engine-codes.com/p1362_chevrolet.html#fix
Your Ignition Control Module may have a bad power connection https://easyautodiagnostics.com/gm/4...test-the-icm-1
